2020 GKS (Global Korea Scholarship) Recruitment Notice for Self-Financed Students
1. Total number of applicants to be selected: 250
2. Scholarship Details
◦ Scholarship Details: 5,000,000won (monthly allowance 500,000 won);
◦ Scholarship Period: March, 2020 – December 2020(10 months);
◦ Scholarship Payment Procedure
- NIIED transfers the scholarship money to the relevant universities
- The universities transfer the scholarship money to selected students on a monthly basis;
3. Qualifications
All applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
① Must be an international self-financed student in the 2nd year or higher of the Bachelor's degree at a Korean university (junior college) at the time of applying
② Must have a total GPA of 80 percentile (out of 100) or higher;
③ Must have the previous semester's GPA of 80 percentile (out of 100) or higher;
※ The grades are based on a criteria of 100 percentile, applicants with a score rounded off less than 80 percentile cannot be admitted (A legal university representative must convert the transcript, then sign it, or put a date);
④ Must have a Level 4 on the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) or higher;
4. Submission of Required documentations (to Eunhui CHA, Office of International Affairs, G&R HUB 214)
① 1 copy of Application (online application through the website ‘STUDY IN KOREA run by Korea Government ( www.studyinkorea.go.kr), then print it out)
② 1 photocopy of Passport
③ Enrollment Certificate, Transcript (whole semester grades): 1 copy of each
※ Transfer students must submit a transcript from the previous university in Korea;
※ Transcripts must be converted into a 100 percentile scale. If there are any corrections on the transcript, a legal university representative must sign it, or put a date;
④ Certificate of TOPIK score, 1 copy
※ The certificate must be original or copied after proved by the person in charged
(A printed copy of TOPIK certificate from the website is considered as the original)
⑤ Self-introduction letter, Study plan (designated form, in applicant's own handwriting in Korean) 1 copy;
⑥ Other related documents: 1 copy of each (if applicable)
※ Certificate of Overseas Korean from embassy(Preferred for selection)
◦ Notes
① Applicant's name must be written exactly as it is in the passport
② Application and the other documents should be A4 sized
③ Candidates must apply at universities, individual candidates are not accepted
④ Candidates must submit official transcripts issued by relevant universities
⑤ Documents should be submitted in the following order and may stapled, fastened with clips, etc.
※ Application + photocopy of Passport + Proof of Enrollment + Transcript (previous, current university) + certificate of TOPIK + Recognized Language Proficiency Test + Self- introduction letter, Study Plan + Letter of Recommendation (should be sealed by a university representative) + other relevant documents;
⑥ Applicants with inaccurate or incomplete documents may be excluded
⑦ After the screening procedure is over, if any fake entries, false information, or etc. are discovered, successful applicants will be automatically disqualified.
※ Scholarship loss: early graduation of excellent students, credit shortfall (semester score is lower than 80 percentile), forfeiture of the scholarship by a university representative, scholarship cancellation after additional inspections.
⑧ Scholarship losses may occur when a main candidate is replaced by another candidate in a reserve list.
※ Due to the selection of successful applicants, within the budget, the candidates on the reserve list may not be selected.
⑨ Submitted documents will not be returned

- Online Application Period: Jan 31st , 2020 (Fri) – Feb25th , 2020 (Tue);
- How to apply: Membership → Apply Online → Application print out → Submit all required documents to the Office of International Affairs
