Economics is a social science that deals with the allocation of resources among decision-makers including firms, households, workers, managers, and government. It covers the operation of households, the organization of firms and industries, the market prices for factors and products, and the determination of economic growth and development. It analyzes production, consumption, investment, development, employment, international trade, and government policies including fiscal, monetary, and regulation. Both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics are essential in the decision making of economic agents.
Economics department of Chonnam National University has two majors; economics major and regional development major. Every student should choose one of two majors before (s)he graduate by his or her own will.

Both majors require for the students who want to get Bachelor degree from Chonnam National University to achieve the following credits and to satisfy the minimum requirements.
On one hand, as far as concerned on the credits, students should take two required common courses of Principles of Economics and Writings, and two required major courses of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. In addition, students should get 24 credits (including Principles of Economics and Writings) from common courses provided by Chonnam National University, and 33 credits (including Microeconomics and Macroeconomics) from major courses provided by Department of Economics. Finally, students should get at least 130 credits totally during whole semesters.
On the other hand, there are three minimum requirements for the certification of graduation. First requirement is about the major field. Students have to submit the dissertation before they finish the final semester. But, there are waives for the dissertation. For more information, students need to contact the staff of each major.
Second requirement is about English field. In particular, students should take the Global English I and II, or need to achieve the equivalent performance on English ability. For more information, students need to contact the staff of each major.
Final requirement is about Computer field. In particular, students should take at least two practice courses on computer, or need to achieve the equivalent performance on computer ability. For more information, students need to contact the staff of each major.
Graduating our department will give leading positions in various fields such as the academics, research institutes, governments, businesses, finance and journalism.
